This review will be looking at Fujitsu's P7230 ultraportable. This tiny system is part of a new crop of ultraportable's that use LED backlighting in order to get great display performance while maintaining a long battery life. That is the main technological achievement of the system but it is by no means all it has going for it. The P7230 is built on an ultra mobile platform that includes an Intel Core Solo U1400 processor, an optical drive, and a 10.6" display. This smaller format factor allows for a very light weight and great portability but limits the power of the system as well as aspects that affect usability, like the size of the keyboard.
Chandan Mehta, Product Manager at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says:

“Notebook users need to be able to depend on the battery life of their notebooks. We all know there's nothing worse than trying to get work done on a long journey only to find the battery life dipping into the red low power zone just as you're getting into your stride.”

“Energy-efficient notebooks and batteries translate into more efficient work days for users. For notebook users who are constantly on the road, struggling to find a power socket to juice up their notebook until the next stop can be time consuming and frustrating,” adds Mehta.

Fujitsu Lifebooks have always had long battery runtimes; the latest generation of Li-Ion batteries and a second battery in the modular bay extend these even further. By using advanced technologies such as low tolerance, well-matched circuitry and energy-efficient LED displays throughout the portfolio, Fujitsu's Lifebooks are more efficient than ever. Fujitsu's Lifebook E780 even reaches a battery runtime of as much as 18 hours.

Fujitsu's EcoButton offers another boost to battery life, by giving users a simple way to save energy and extend battery runtime. With the touch of a button, users can switch off the most resource-hungry functions such as Firewire (IEEE 1394), card slots, optical disk drives as well as reducing display brightness. Fujitsu's green approach is also proven by independent organizations; most of Fujitsu's Lifebooks have Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Gold certifications.

Lenovo Group said Friday that it would not release the world’s first smartbook called Skylight. Instead, the company intends to concentrate on Google Android-based devices and some of those products may easily be a smartbook, but without Lenovo’s proprietary operating system.

“After careful consideration of market conditions and user feedback, Lenovo has decided to focus its resources on building a family of next-generation mobile Internet devices based upon open technologies such as (but not limited to) the Android kernel, similar to the Lenovo smartphone, which is available for sale in China now. As a result Lenovo has shelved its plans to release the initial version of the Skylight smartbook that featured a proprietary Linux based OS,” a statement of Lenovo, which was published by LaptopMag web-site, reads.

Lenovo Skylight smartbook was powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chip with 1GHz ARM processor core and was equipped with 10” screen (1024×600 resolution), 20GB flash storage, Wi-Fi, 3GB,  typical keyboard and so on. The system was based on a special version of Linux, hence, it did not support a lot of additional software by itself, but there were more than 18 preloaded web gadgets on Skylight, not a lot to say at least. The company intended to sell the device for $499.

The price and the proprietary nature of the Skylight did not seem to be competitive even at the first sight. Therefore, it is hardly a surprise that Lenovo decided to scrap the gadget, which cost more than some of its IdeaPad Windows-based systems.

The Top 7 Father's Day Gift Ideas for the Technophobe Dad!

WM Logo South Africa by Fontblog

Mike Hanke Fussball Trikot

We all know that Father's Day is a brilliant chance to show your dad how much you love and appreciate him, but it brings a major dilemma with it. Men, and especially fathers, are notoriously difficult to buy for. This especially applies if your father is a technophobe because the majority of Father's Day gift ideas are electronic goods.

Well, if your dad is a technophobe and you are struggling for Father's Day gift ideas, look no further than the top 7 technophobe gifts below!

  1. A Fussball Table – This is the perfect gift for a technophobe dad because there is absolutely no technology involved. The game is fun and can be enjoyed by the whole family, especially if you happen to be competitive. It will also no doubt take him back to his youth! The cheapest ones cost as little as $50 so it is an absolute bargain too!
  2. Tickets To A Soccer/Basketball/Baseball Match – For the sporty dad, tickets to a sports event can provide a memorable experience that he will not forget for years to come. This Father's Day gift idea is difficult to top in future years but need not be expensive. Some tickets are as little as $10 a piece, although you might want to throw in a hotdog as well for good measure!
  3. A Universal Remote – No technophobe dad wants to use one remote for the TV, another for the DVD player and a third for Tivo/Sky so get him a universal remote. At $20 to $25 for a really good one, he can enjoy all of his TV shows with no difficulty at all.
  4. A Sports Car For A Day – You can now rent sports car for a couple of hours or even a whole day for upwards of $200. This is a pricey but fabulous present that could help your technophobe dad to live all of his childhood dreams and pose for a while. It's the stuff dreams are made of!
  5. Prehistoric Man Gifts – You can actually buy these on the Internet at http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/p/pre-historic_man_gifts.asp. They are hilarious cartoons that feature cavemen making jokes about inventions like the wheel. If you want to have a bit of fun with your technophobe dad and make him laugh then this is a must!
  6. A Personalized Number Plate – These would vary in price but they are very safe as far as Father's Day gift ideas are concerned. What man would not want his very own number plate for his car to show off with?
  7. The Dummies Guide To The Internet – Obvious but necessary! Your father could have hours of fun on the Internet if he knew how to use it so invest $20 and get him the book that will teach him to do just that!

Even if you do not get your father any of the above, your Father's Day gift ideas should be original and relevant if you really want to show you care. One word of advice though – avoid socks at all costs!

Bursaspor wins the Turkish Soccer League championship. Turkish soccer league is dominated by 4 teams – dort buyukler-. This year this rule has been broken by a small city team Bursaspor who has been coached by a Turkish person. Fans are crazy about their new achievement and like to celebrate it for a long time..

Picture is taken by Zaman Gazetesi.

France has won the right to host soccer’s European Championship in 2016.

UEFA’s ruling executive voted 7-6 for the French bid over Turkey after having eliminated Italy in a first-round points ballot.

This is the third time France hosts the championship, breaking a worldwide record.

The result was announced by Michel Platini, UEFA’s French president, who captained his country to the European title in 1984 on home soil. Platini did not vote.

“We are very happy, very honoured. We will make our best efforts so that the 24 countries are received wonderfully in France.” Sarkozy said.

“The French state is here to support and guarantee that everything we have said, we will live up to. This is a beautiful day for us,” he said. “I can assure you that this trust will not be betrayed.”

Nine stadiums will be taken into account,  including new venues in Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon and Nice; and also Marseille and Strasbourg; as well as upgrades to existing arenas in Lens, Nancy, St. Etienne, Toulouse and Paris’ Parc Des Princes.

The project calls for 662 million euros in public funding.

Toshiba Laptop OEM AC Adapter Charger (Power cord) 15V5A by Electronics Direct

Playstation 2 Spiele bestellen

The Toshiba A305D-S6835 is a high end yet affordable notebook. Having those two qualities it's no surprise that it is one of the best selling notebooks currently on the market. I have gotten my hands on one of these and I'm going to let you know what it is capable of and who will get the most out of purchasing one of these. First let me get started with a few of its stats.

Hardware

Imaging: Webcam integrated into face

Processor: 2.2 GHz 64-bit dual-core AMD Turion

Storage Space: 320 GB hard drive

RAM: 3GB (Expandable to a 4GB maximum)

Optical Drive: CD R RW with an integrated dual-layer DVD +/- R RW burner

Graphics Accelerator: ATI Radeon X1250 graphics (uses up to 831 MB of dedicated and shared memory)

Demensions and weight: 14.3″ x 10.5″ x 1.5″ and weighs 6lbs

This notebook has a powerful 2.2 GHz 64bit AMD processor as its powerhouse. I love this chip; it is remarkably powerful and sips energy. The small size and relatively light frame at 6lbs makes this Toshiba a mobile monster. The ATI manufactured video card is very capable for the gamer as well as the multimedia professional.

The first thing you notice as this sits on the shelf is the beautiful 15.4″ TruBrite screen operating at 1280 x 800 (producing a 720p HD resolution for those familiar with HD televisions). If you haven't seen these Toshiba satellite screens in person you really should run down to your local electronics retailer and check them out, they're on par with Apple and Sony as far as quality (even though the resolution isn't tremendously high).

Connectivity

Integrated Wireless (so you can connect to wireless LAN's)

1 Ethernet Port (so you can connect to a wired network)

4 2.0 USB ports (this is used to connect your laptop to printers, digital cameras, and mp3 players)

1 FireWire port (this port is used for high speed data transfer between other PC's and digital camcorders)

1 ExpressCard port (where you can insert a cellular modem or Bluetooth adapter)

1 VGA out (a typical monitor connection)

1 S-Video out (usually for connecting to a projector or compatible television)

1 audio out / 1 mic in

1 digital audio out

1 56K modem input (so you can dialup)

5 in 1 memory card reader (you can use this to directly insert the memory from you mobile devices)

As far as connectivity this is fairly standard. The only thing my A305D-S6835 is missing is a Bluetooth adapter. These are typically integrated with most higher-end models and I'm surprised I don't see one here. I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of HD output either although it would purely be a bonus.

The price on this notebook is currently just shy of $1000. This is a great price for a versatile, highly mobile notebook. I would expect to see this notebook drop this summer or as late as the fall when the computer buying season hits (coinciding with the start of school). This would be great for most computer users, including students and professionals.

Worldwide sales of PCs are rocketing, according to Gartner, and it’s consumers rather than businesses that are doing the buying.

Global shipments are expected to hit 376.6 million units this year, up 22 percent in 2009. Worldwide PC spending is forecast to reach $245.4 billion in 2010, up 12 percent from 2009.

Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville didn't pretend that there was a lot of wizardry in the decision to stick together on the day of a game.

“We just tried to do something different,” Quenneville said in his press briefing after the Blackhawks' morning skate on Friday. “The way things have gone at home, we figured we'd shake it up. The key is for us to stay focused on what's important.”

Blackhawks players embaced the idea.

“Sometimes on the road, teams start to feel like they have an advantage,” said defenseman Brian Campbell. “You bond as a team, you eat meals together, you shut everything out except winning the game. I understand why we're trying this. I think it can only help us.”

Notes: Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith believes the obsession with matchups has led to the outbreak of too-many-men penalties during the playoffs. “Coaches trying to get the matchup, guys trying their best to make the change when normally it wouldn't be the best time to change,” said Keith. “It's something we need to be aware of. When you have to change, change. But change at the right time.” …

Back home for a pair of games with a 2-0 lead, the Blackhawks are guarding against an “Ice Capades” performance in front of an adoring crowd at United Center. Patrick Kane said keeping it simple works for Chicago anyway. “We should play this like one of our road games,” said Kane, second on the Blackhawks with 7-11-18 in 14 playoff games. “When you play simple, the show comes — to be honest with you. When you're doing all the right little things, all the big plays seem to happen.” …

To a man, the Blackhawks — despite being up 2-0 in the series — are calling Game 3 on Friday a must-win game. “We know how good of a team they are,” Kane said of the Sharks. “We can't give them any life.” …

Worldwide sales of PCs are rocketing, according to Gartner, and it’s consumers rather than businesses that are doing the buying.Global shipments are expected to hit 376.6 million units this year, up 22 percent in 2009. Worldwide PC spending is forecast to reach $245.4 billion in 2010, up 12 percent from 2009.But while the professional PC market is projected to grow 13.1 percent this year, the home PC market will grow by 29.5 percent. Sales of laptops rose by 43 percent. “PC demand in the consumer segment continues to strengthen even though the global economy remains uncertain. Consumers are now viewing PCs as necessities rather than luxury items,” says Ranjit Atwal, principal research analyst at Gartner. “In the downturn, PCs remained the electronic device of choice on which to spend household income in mature markets, and we do not expect this to change either in 2010 or beyond.”The professional market is still doing well, though, says Atwal.”The aging life of PCs will drive replacements. Organizations will find it tougher to further extend PC life cycles without incurring more costs,” he says. “This, together with the adoption of Windows 7, will generate robust demand in the professional market. Larger businesses expect to start replacements in the second half of 2010, with the majority replaced in 2011. We now expect Windows 7 migration to last through 2012.”Mini-notebooks are still popular, but growth is slowing. Shipments are forecast to total 41.8 million units in 2010, 30 percent up on last year. “The mini-notebook segment will be impacted by increasingly competitive ultralow-voltage (ULV) products, the decreasing prices of all mobile PCs and the maturing preferences of consumers,” said Raphael Vasquez, research analyst at Gartner. “Media tablets will not impact the mini-notebook segment this year. However, media tablets, such as the iPad and similar devices, will significantly detract from mini-notebook shipments in 2013 and onward, when we expect their prices to be lower and, more importantly, their functionality to be more similar to mini-notebooks.”In Gartner’s most likely scenario, approximately 10 million media tablets are expected to ship in 2010.

Frankreich Trikot

With the arrival of David Beckham on American soil, we soccer fans are hoping our favorite sport will get a much needed boost in popularity. Soccer is a great game but is often overlooked in America. As is the case with most things though, Americans will not embrace something that is new, different, or that they do not know much about. So, let me help you get caught up to speed with a crash course in some of the soccer rules and play that could potentially turn off or confuse viewers.

Obviously, even if you hate the game you should already be aware that in soccer you cannot touch the ball with your hands and the objective is to kick the ball in to the opposing team's goal as much a possible. However, there are several other important rules that need to be understood before fully appreciating the great game of soccer.

Off Sides – First, let's get the big one out of the way. If you have ever seen a goal scored in soccer but then immediately the officials rule it a “no goal,” most likely you have just witnessed off sides. Off sides is the most confusing rule to someone not familiar with soccer. A basic understanding of soccer positions is required to understand off sides. There are two goals each equipped with a goalie and two teams of players playing different positions around them. In soccer, there are defenders, who stay back around the goal, forwards, offensive players who try to score goals, and mid-fielders who play both defense and offense wherever they are needed. Offensive players are not allowed to be between the goalie and his closest defender.

If an offensive player is in this area and plays the ball, he is considered off sides and the defenders are given a free kick. This rule prevents teams from placing a good goal scorer right in front of the goal just waiting for the ball. It keeps the games more interested and requires fast breaks, good passing, and planned attacks to score as opposed to stationary players by the goal twiddling their thumbs waiting for opportunities. The off sides rule also allows defensive players to put strategy into the game of soccer. When the ball is on the opposite end of the field, defenders will often play and “off sides trap.” That is, the defenders will all push forward toward the middle of the field. This leaves a large gap of field between the goalie and his closest defender; a gap in which no offensive players can be. However, this strategy can backfire if you are playing a team with good fast break ability.

Throw Ins – When the ball is knocked out-of-bounds along the sidelines, it is returned to play by the team who did not knock it out. The ball is returned to play via a throw in. A throw in must be performed by holding the ball with both hands, pulling it behind the head and hurling it over the head with both hands still contacting the ball. Also, the throwing player may not lift his back leg when throwing. If a hand falls of the ball, it does not come across the head, or the leg is lifted, a throw in is awarded to the other team.

Corner Kicks – When the ball is knocked out-of-bounds along the end of the field, the ball is returned to play differently. If a defensive player is the last to touch the ball before it goes out, then the offensive team is awarded a corner kick. In this situation, an offensive player takes the ball to the corner of the field and kicks it in. Often for corner kicks, offensive players will fill the goal area hoping to be in the perfect place to redirect the corner kick into the goal using their heads.

Goal Kicks – On the other hand, if an offensive player is the last to touch the ball before it goes out, then the defensive team is awarded a goal kick. In this situation, a defensive player takes the ball to the edge of the box drawn around the goal and kicks it onto the field to resume play.

Slide Tackles – Soccer is not a “contact sport” per se but it does allow some controlled contact. The most obvious example is the slide tackle. In soccer, players are permitted to slide into another player who has the ball in an attempt to strip the ball from them. However, the sliding player must begin his slide from an area visible to the player with the ball. Also, the sliding player must not slide with cleats up or kicking at the player. The momentum of the slide should be the only driving force behind the ball stripping attempt. If at any time the slider comes in from behind the player with the ball, with cleats up, or kicking, a foul is called and the player with the ball is awarded a free kick.

Yellow Card – Besides slide tackling, there are various other fouls that can be called for dangerous and rough play. A yellow card is a stern warning given to a player who either commits a strong foul, repeatedly commits fouls, or conducts himself with unsportsmanlike behavior (arguing, cursing, etc.). A yellow card is the refs way of saying “you better watch out, I have my eye on you.” If a player is given two yellow cards in one game, it turns into a red card.

Red Card -The red card is the big daddy of all punishments. It is given to a player who commits enough fouls to warrant two yellow cards in one game or a player who commits a flagrant or overly dangerous foul. A red card is similar to an intentional foul in basketball. A red card results in the player being escorted from the game as well as not being allowed to play in the team's next game. Red cards are a serious punishment and thus do not show up all that often.

Hopefully this soccer primer has cleared up some of the lesser known rules of soccer which sometimes prevent spectators from enjoying this great game. Now, get yourself a snack, look up an MLS game on the TV, print out this article as a cheat sheet, and start enjoying your new favorite spectator sport.

The six game modes are Quick Match, Penalty Shootout, Training, Tournament, Dream Team, and Multiplayer. In Tournament mode, there are 30 tournaments to compete in to win and collect the cups to keep in your trophy room. In the all new Dream Team mode, players must use their skills to create the ultimate team of their own. You start out with poor quality players and work at improving them by competing in Multiplayer, Tournament and Quick Match modes for tokens. These tokens can then be used to scout and recruit quality players from across the globe, to help create the ultimate Dream Team. And Multiplayer mode is where you can play against a friend on local wifi, bluetooth connection, or in a new online option to play against people all over the world. The online option works surprisingly well, but obviously depends on your internet connect for best results. Playing online does not work over 3G or EDGE networks, so you must be connected to a wifi network to play.

The control layout is essentially the same as X2's previous game, with a little refinement. You'll find the virtual floating joystick on the left and the three 'X2 S.M.A.R.T.' buttons in the bottom right corner. The three buttons are slightly adjusted and re-positioned, but offer the same great control system. Of all the soccer games, this layout is my favorite, rather than the traditional "A" and "B" buttons offered in the others. Each button has its own ability depending on if your attacking or defending, with options of pass, lob, cross, one-two, through ball, and shoot on attack and pressure, slide tackle, switch player, and goal keeper charge on defense. The buttons can be tapped, double tapped, or held down for the more advanced controls. When a button is pressed, a power bar appears above the player signifying the level of strength to be used. I don't find the controls to be confusing at all. They are both easy to use for beginners yet fully functional for skilled players.

The game also has enhanced defensive and offensive AI players. The AI players are much smarter now, forcing you to play smarter. If you are finding the game a little easy as you get better, you can ramp up the difficulty in the settings to easy, good, hard, or expert. You have full customization on the settings from what is displayed on the screen while playing, weather, rules, stadium, commentary, replays, favorite team, team/player names and more. There is also a crawl on the bottom of the screen with real life information coming from an RSS feed that you can edit, the default one gives you lots of great soccer information that is going on in the world.

The full 3D graphics are much improved and even more impressive than X2 Soccer 2009, which were already top notch. X2 Soccer 2010 runs super smooth while playing on my iPhone 3GS and there are also 3GS-specific optimizations that were made to accommodate the faster hardware. Some 3GS users are reporting that they are experiencing some lag in their games, but I haven't experienced any. Meanwhile, reports from other device users seem to be fine.

Overall, X2 Soccer 2010 is one of the top soccer game experiences right now on the App Store. Konami will have a tough time out doing X2 with their upcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 game. You will not be disappointed with X2 Soccer 2010, if you are holding out for an enjoyable soccer game, look no further.

Euro 2008: Huddle – Fussball-Giganten im Spielerkreis by Dom Dada

Tim Wiese Trikot

December 6, 2006

After some struggles to earn promotion to the Bundesliga 1, Munich 1860 signed another American, reports Kicker. Striker, Josh Wolff, will be relied on to score goals in close matches to help the team escape second division soccer.

The Lions are currently only four points short of earning promotion. The team counts on a strong backline led by American defender, Gregg Berhalter, who appeared for the U.S. National Team in World Cups 2002 and 2006.

The former captain of Energie Cottbus helped the East German team climb into the Bundesliga 1 last season, only to remain in the Bundeliga 2 by signing with Munich 1860.

Wolff will join his American comrade after several successful campaigns in Major League Soccer. Wolff was a Fire original and played 84 matches for Chicago. While in the Windy City, the young striker tallied 32 goals.

After his success in Chicago, the Georgia native moved to Kansas City to play for the Wizards. While with the Wizards, Wolff put in 27 goals in 80 matches.

In 2003, Wolff suffered a meniscus tear and ankle injury which slowed his blistering pace significantly. However, the forward finished his last three MLS seasons healthy. Wolff scored 25 goals in the past three seasons with the Wizards and all but maxed out his salary under the league's tight cap.

Like most European teams, 1860 only signed the striker to an 18 month contract. The reasons for the short contract are multi-fold.

Few European teams will give any player pushing 30 more than a one year deal. The belief is by that age most players, especially forwards, are finished. Wolff is 29.

Munich 1860 also struggles with budget issues. Despite the team's recent success, previous pushes toward the “Big Show” have hurt Munich's funds. The team simply can't afford to issue a big contract.

Wolff is an American. Although signing American players is becoming more common in Europe, it is still viewed as a gamble. Despite appearing in two World Cups, Munich will keep in mind that he only scored once in both.

For Wolff, this move is elementary. His salary is largely fixed in the MLS, and he's still fairly young. For the forward to start preparing for retirement, he needed to go abroad. This move will help him further develop his on-field smarts and ideally help him establish a comfortable nest egg.

(apn)

Sony Vaio CW Laptop by 800HighTech

Epson Laserdrucker bei Amazon

A laptop is a wonderful item to have if you do a lot of work on a computer. Whether you work from home, are a student, or bring your work home with you, a laptop easily makes that work more enjoyable by allowing you to work outside, from the comfort of your couch, etc. If you think a new laptop isn't in your budget, there are certain things that you should consider before buying a used laptop. I hope the following tips help you avoid buying a used laptop that leaves you disappointed.

Things to Consider When Buying a Used Laptop #1: Is the Keyboard Still Functional?

Unfortunately, if a laptop isn't properly taken care of, the keys will begin to stick. This is quite annoying. Also if the previous owner wasn't careful they could have completely broken some of the keys by typing too hard or getting frustrated and pounding on the keys. Simply using the computer frequently can damage the keyboard. When looking at a used laptop make sure the keyboard works.

Things to Consider When Buying a Used Laptop #2: Is the Screen Scratched?

Not everyone is careful when it comes to electronics. Some people are able to damage electronics within weeks of getting them. Look at the screen very closely and make sure there aren't any scratches. Even if the scratch doesn't look like a big deal when the computer is turned off, the scratch could look much worse once the computer is turned on.

Things to Consider When Buying a Used Laptop #3: Does the Screen Work at All?

Turn the laptop on and make sure the screen works. If the seller is reluctant to let you turn the computer on, walk away; they are obviously hiding something. The screen can become damaged in many different ways. The previous owner may have placed something heavy on top of the laptop, pushing the screen into the keys, damaging the screen. Or the previous owner may have even dropped the computer damaging not only the screen, but other components as well.

Things to Consider When Buying a Used Laptop #4: What are the Specs?

How big is the hard drive? Does the laptop have enough ram for the applications you will be using? Is the computer too old? Before buying the computer, ask the seller what the specs are or open the laptop and look for yourself. You can find the information by right clicking on the my computer icon located on the desktop. Depending on the price the seller is charging, you may be able to buy a new laptop for the same price.

Things to Consider When Buying a Used Laptop #5: Is a New Laptop Cheaper?

Computers are much cheaper than they used to be. Buying a used laptop is not always the best option. You may find that a new laptop has better specs that those of a used laptop and the price is the same, if not cheaper. Always be sure to check prices before deciding to buy a used computer, a new computer may be a lot cheaper. Don't forget that you will often you will find sells at popular stores, such as Staples.

The Top 7 Father's Day Gift Ideas for the Technophobe Dad!

Fifa 10, Home Edition!! -- 16/10/09 by Mark Mc Guire

Rene Adler Fussball Trikot

'Vintage Autumn' notebooks by Studio MIKMIK

Laptop kaufen

A review unit of the Gateway M-6866 Notebook was sent to me for review. Like the other M-Series and T-Series Notebooks, the Gateway M-6866 comes with new colors and designs. This M-Series model with a 15.4-inch display sports an attractive Pacific Blue case. Now your notebook can be as colorful as your mobile phone!

Let's look at the specs. The Gateway M-6866 Notebook features the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5750 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 667MHz), and comes with Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1. It has an Intel GM965 chipset, 15.4-inch Ultrabright WXGA TFT (1280×800 maximum resolution) widescreen display, and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3104 with up to 384MB of dynamic video memory. Onboard RAM is 4.0 gigabytes (good for running Windows Vista).

There's plenty of storage space with the 320GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive. For media, it's got an 8x multi-format dual layer DVDRW with DVD-RAM (including Labelflash Technology). More on Labelflash later. The 5-in-1 digital media manager takes those handy memory cards (Secure Digital, xD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and MultiMedia Card). For communication, you get the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g, Ethernet, a56K modem and Bluetooth. It has a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam.

For attaching a printer and other peripherals, you've got three USB ports. The Gateway M-6866 is powered by AC and by a 6-cell Lithium Ion battery. Above the number keys on the keyboard, there's a row of metal precision-touch multimedia buttons. The Gateway M-6866 comes with both Microsoft Works 9.0 and Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 (60-day trial). The notebook weighs 6.3 pounds, and measures 10 inches high by 14 inches wide by 1.5 inches thick.

The Gateway M-6866 has a Labelflash-enabled laser-labeling DVD burner. Labelflash, developed by Yamaha Corp. and Fujifilm Corp., lets you create labels without a printer or sticky paper labels. Instead, the laser inscribes image and text into a specialized dye within the proprietary Labelflash DVD-R disc. This is cool technology, and although it takes time for the laser to do its work, the results are nice.

To use it, you flip the disc over after recording data onto the media and re-insert it into the Labelflash-compliant DVD drive. Make sure the the label side faces down. You use the CyberLink LabelPrint software to design your label with an image and text. In minutes (depending on the contrast quality you select), the laser beam inscribes a monochromatic blue-and-silver label. I hope that future versions will allow labels to be in full-color. For more information on Labelflash, go to http://labelflash.jp/ or www.fujifilm.com.

Since the Gateway M-6866 doesn't come with a carrying case, try the soft Messenger bag (with a choice of colors ) from Belkin. It's a nice fit with the colorful Gateway notebook. The Messenger features water-resistant outer material, and has scratch-free lining on the inside. It has a soft-grip handle on top, and protective rubber feet on the bottom. There's an MP3-player pocket, and a pouch for power block and notebook accessories. The Messenger 14-15 inch (F8N076) runs $49.99. Check it out at www.belkin.com.

This is quite a fine notebook. The Circuit City site currently gives the M-6866 a 4.7 customer rating (out of 5). It has plenty of power, and the 4GB of RAM lets it run Vista just fine. I tested Vista in the past on an underpowered PC with only 1GB RAM; it wasn't pretty! I changed my mind on Vista this time around. One thing I noticed was the low loudness from the onboard speakers. Even set to the max, they are not very loud. But when I plugged in my Sony headphones, the sound was superb.

The notebook includes a one-year warranty (tech support, parts and factory labor). At this time, the Gateway M-6866 Notebook currently sells for $749.99 at Circuit City (www.circuitcity.com). For more information on the M-6866 and all other Gateway products, surf to www.gateway.com or call 1-800-846-2000.

Being 8.9 inches across and holding endless possibilities, this computer is perfect for someone who likes to travel but doesn't want to carry around all that weight. It met my expectations very well because I imagined it to run slower than a normal computer – but it's about the same! The speed of this computer runs very quickly with 512 MB RAM and a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor. This advanced yet small laptop can do just about everything.

This little laptop has Windows XP plus a quick set up wizard to help you get started. There are no confusing manuals to read or disks to put in the PC. All you have to do is turn it on, while following the easy Wizard prompts. Once you get everything set up, you'll notice one of their best features comes with virus protection. With McAFee Security Center, it's simple to protect your laptop from malicious websites or files. It also has up to date scanning so you don't have to do everything manually. Another handy tool I like about the program is the Parental Controls
are adjustable.

I am not just writing an Acer Mini Laptop review to give the good news, but also some cons. I'm always writing articles, so I was a bit weary to see they did not include the full version of Microsoft Office. Yes, the Acer laptop does come with this software but you can only have the trial version for 25 days. However, there are still writing tools available like Wordpad, Notepad, and Microsoft Word Processor.

One other thing that I havn't mentioned is their games. They have about two different game sets rather than one. For example, in the Acer Game Zone are a few games like Cake Mania, Chicken Invaders, Fizzball and more. Located in the regular Games menu is Pin Ball, Hearts, Internet Spades and Solitaire.

The only problem I have encountered with the Acer Laptop is that the screen resolution is too small and there are only two settings for it. Whenever I go to Internet Explorer, all the font is tiny. It would be nice if they could fix that in the future because sometimes I find myself squinting. Also, if you are looking to save your files one day you will discovery that this laptop does not accept discs of any kind. You can use a flash drive for the Acer Mini laptop just fine. I hope this little Acer Mini Laptop Review contributed to you.
